Let me start by wishing everyone a very happy 2009! It’s been a busy couple of weeks for me – as I’m sure it has been for most of you – but I managed to finish my (short) holiday on a high by taking a quick outing to Glencoe. It wasn’t really a photo trip (although I did take most of my gear with me) and I wasn’t expecting much from the few shots I took as the weather was fairly unexciting and overcast. So I was pleasantly surprised when I got home and reviewed my images on my computer screen…
What’s the point in having a blog if you’re not allowed to use it to show off a little every now and again? OK, so it’s not as if I’ve won some incredibly prestigious photography competition (what? some of you disagree??) but it is nice when one of your images gets voted a “noteworthy” by the visitors of Photofriday. The theme for this one was “Dusk” for those of you who are still reading…

So today I intended to go out for a quick wander around Hollyrood Park and the Royal Mile (which are both near where I live in Edinburgh) this afternoon and then grab a sandwich. Naturally I took my camera with me, but I wasn’t planning on staying out for long (I was hungry!). I forgot quite how early the sun goes down at this time of year and soon found myself standing on North Bridge looking at the beginning of a beautiful sunset…
Hello there, and welcome to my new photography blog…
