Glencoe (and Happy New Year!)

Let me start by wishing everyone a very happy 2009! It’s been a busy couple of weeks for me – as I’m sure it has been for most of you – but I managed to finish my (short) holiday on a high by taking a quick outing to Glencoe. It wasn’t really a photo trip (although I did take most of my gear with me) and I wasn’t expecting much from the few shots I took as the weather was fairly unexciting and overcast. The Key to a Successful Night Shot?

Answer: Patience. Oh, and gloves too! So today I intended to go out for a quick wander around Hollyrood Park and the Royal Mile (which are both near where I live in Edinburgh) this afternoon and then grab a sandwich. Naturally I took my camera with me, but I wasn’t planning on staying out for long (I was hungry!). I forgot quite how early the sun goes down at this time of year and soon found myself standing on North Bridge looking at the beginning of a beautiful sunset…
